The newspapers and TV have been making so much noise about the Delhi High Court verdict striking down Sec 377. The number of articles that I've read/skipped reading are almost as if this "news" is on par with an India - Pakistan cricket match and THAT is saying something!!
Cricket is (unofficially) THE religion of the subcontinent, no? Media going crazy can, therefore, be pardoned. But the way everyone seems to be going ga-ga over the legalising of same sex relations between consenting adults leaves me bewildered.
I respect and support the judgement of the Delhi HC and hope the SC (or Parliament) does nothing to reverse this. But, frankly, is this headline grabbing news? Or, is the media (as most often happens) making too much noise? I wonder what percentage of our population is actually concerned/affected by striking down Sec 377? Why is this so headline grabbing?
